Children! Thou art Free
This covid-19 's got me attempting to watch a London based movie so "ooi! mates, how'ya doing?". I promise that's all I can remember from that movie. With the limited working hours and parties you are beginning to understand, arent you? That the world dont orbit around you like the sun, and that you can actually find happiness in happenings. And you are slowling changing from the "all hat and no cattle " human to a better version. So today, im seated on my home office chair looking out my window ,there beyond my window is a vast playground followed by endless trees (just how I like it). I had just finished my plate of hap-pea-ness otherwise known as "nzuu" so my tummy was full and so was my my mind.
Back to the staring part, I saw this kid with a red shirt playing in the vast field, all by himself. Now, where I grew up, thou were never to be caught playing alone. We did everything possible to have company, including helping our friends with their "duties" so that they wld finish earlier and have time to play. The adult version is known as "hurrying up to slow down". You know like when you rush through stuff so that u can get home and just sit on the couch?. Yes, that one. The kid invented game after another for a whooping 60mins and I watched. He played football with a stone, then drew on the ground and jumped, then broke into a dance then jumped up and down and my favorite, he threw sand up and I watched it get carried by the wind. (I promise to try that soon😂). Soon after the sand, the kid packed his bags (just kidding). The kid disapeared into the horizon on his way home maybe. And I sat there thinking, the child enjoyed his company, how many people out there wish they were alone or not alone or better or unsatisfied or limited by their own thoughts and the famous Corona. Whose world has come to a stop just?. Eneway, Im here to help. And now by the power granted to me by a Canadian based institution to practice part of children psychology; I Ndanu, present each one of you with a Certificate of the inner child. This certificate gives you the right to jump into a mud puddle, walk in the rain, build the house of your dreams will pillows or small stones, walk backwards, be happy about having a best friend, pretend to be asleep so that you are carried to bed, walk backwards, ask silly questions, laugh and cry at the same time, make mistakes, learn from the mistakes, paint a yellow elephant and a blue tree, run around the house with no pants and dance without a song. Heck! The certificate even grants you the right to stand by the windows and 'own' cars as they pass by.."hii ni yangu" "weee pia ile ni yangu niliona kwanza". In short my friends; live, love and thrive.Afterall, it is a literally breath-taking life.
